The novel revisions have been slow-going lately, but you know what?  That's ok.  I'm not going to beat myself up about being slow right now.  I've got a lot of stuff going on, so the fact that I'm writing every day at any pace is the important thing.  You hear that little miss internal critic? I hereby give myself permission to be slow and you're just going to have to deal with it.  Neener neener neener!

You're absolutely right - going at whatever pace you want is completely fine. The important thing is to love what you're doing, and I've discovered how easy it is to lose sight of that.

Absolutely. I think I was over-stressing my brain, and it was making the writing process painful. But after giving myself some slowness permission since I'm not on deadline for this novel, this morning's revision session felt so much more productive.

I used to worry about how long I take to finish some things, but now I realize the important thing is to get it done right, not fast.

Of course, right AND fast would be nice :(

That would be nice, wouldn't it?

I used to be able to crank out a short story first draft in only a few hours, so for a while I was lamenting having slowed down considerably. But then I realized that the reason I'm writing slower is because I'm writing better and thinking about a lot of things I never would have thought about before while crafting a story.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! I'm so proud of you! Slow and steady wins the race, my dear. Sometimes, when we go for the sprint, we just end up tripping over our own shoe laces and busting up our faces.

And considering how much klutzy me trips when I'm not sprinting, I need to be careful. :)
