It occurs to me that I may be entirely too obsessive. It's a good trait to have when your day job involves a constant stream of deadlines for grant proposals and reports and people wanting to know when you're going to hear back on the proposal you only just sent five seconds ago. After ten years of sending out subs, I tend to forget stories are out in the wild. Color me old and cynical.

For me, it often depends on the story. Some I'm so sick of submitting that I'm in no hurry to hear back on them, so they're easy to shoot off and forget about. But when they're new and shiny, I tend to obsess just a wee little bit.

I *used* to obsessively watch Duo, but I've broken that spell. Until it gets close to their reported response time, and then I check it every few days.

My level of Duotrope's obsessiveness usually varies depending on what I have out where and what else is going on with my day. On a long, slow work day, I'll check Duotrope's obsessively. This weekend, though, I took maybe the quickest of glances and that was it.
