I haven't gotten very far on the short story rewrite I started last week, but there has been progress.  Said progress took the form of the following stages:

Stage 1: I can't do this! I don't know how to write!  I'm a hack!

Stage 2: I can totally do this.  I just need to figure out the right starting place.  Ah, there it is.

Stage 3: Remember how you're rewriting most of this from scratch? That makes it a first draft essentially.  So stop trying to make it perfect and just keep writing already, dumbass.

Stage 4: Writing! I'm writing! I'm in the zone! I'm picking up steam and . . . crap, here's my train stop.

It's ok to miss your stop if you're busy writing! Ok, maybe not, but hopefully the "steam" will keep till the next commute.

My employer would probably disagree, especially since I'm usually running late as it is. :)

If you miss your stop this time around, you can always get off next time...or the time after that. :)

Alas, I'm the last stop on the line, so I have no good excuse to miss it. Stupid train. Stupid lack of more hours in the day.

Remember, when that moment of frustration hits as your train stop arrives: there's always another train ride tomorrow.

The train's usually pretty good about that. It's that whole freezing time so I can get more writing done part it needs to work on. :)

Well that's a little infuriating.

Progress shouldn't be held to this "schedule" bullshit.

If not a train, it's always something it seems. Stupid writing interruptions.

You're lucky you didn't miss your stop! :D

You're not a hack. Your characters/muses take themselves far too seriously for you to be one;o)

I'm the last stop on the line going to work, so it's hard to miss it. :)

*Phew* If it weren't the last stop on the line I'd be flying past it if I were you. I did that so many times when I was public trans. dependent I found my first college. Miami Dade CC North campus. It was the last stop on the line and I was reading. By the time I looked up I'd miss my work stop and was at the college. I was on my own and working full time and 19 yrs old. I had twenty minutes to kill and I explored the campus. At age 18 I was sick of school but after a year off the thought of going to college was interesting. It's a nice campus. Outdoor swimming pool and all. I was very glad I found it.

That's an entertaining way to have found a school. :)

I do have to pay attention going home on the train, but amazingly, I've only missed that stop once.
